Toyota 4Runner: Open or Short in Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor (C1421,C1281,C1423,C1424)

DESCRIPTION

DTC Code

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

C1421

Either condition is met:

Both of the following conditions continue for at least 1.2 seconds.

  • The IG1 terminal voltage is between 9.5 V and 17.0 V.
  • The VM/C1 terminal voltage is not within 4.4 V and 5.6 V.

Both of the following conditions continue for at least 1.2 seconds.

  • The VM/C1 terminal voltage is between 4.4 V and 5.6 V.
  • The PM/C1 terminal voltage is not within 0.19 V and 4.57 V.
  • Master cylinder pressure sensor circuit
  • Master cylinder solenoid (Master cylinder pressure sensor, skid control ECU)

C1423

Both of the following conditions continue for at least 5 seconds

  • The stop light switch is off.
  • The PM/C1 terminal voltage is below 0.3 V.

C1424

One of the following condition is met:

  • Noise occurs in the signal from the PM/C1 terminal 7 times or more within 5 seconds
  • When the vehicle speed drops from 40 km/h (25 mph) to 10 km/h (6 mph), the master cylinder pressure does not change by at least 0.048 MPa.
  • At a vehicle speed of 7 km/h (4 mph) or more, the PM/C1 terminal voltage is between 0.86 and 1.0 V and master cylinder pressure does not change by at least 0.048 MPa for 60 seconds or more.
  • At a vehicle speed of 7 km/h (4 mph) or more, the PM/C1 terminal voltage is 1.0 V or higher and master cylinder pressure does not change by at least 0.048 MPa for 30 seconds or more.
  • At a vehicle speed of 7 km/h (4 mph) or more with the stop light switch ON, a state in which the master cylinder pressure sensor input value is sufficiently greater than the estimated master pressure continues for 1 second of more and this state occurs 5 or more times each time the ignition switch is turned to ON, and this occurs 8 or more times consecutively.

C1281

Stored only during test mode.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform calibration (See page ).

PROCEDURE
