PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the steering wheel assembly (See page
.gif)
).
2. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
3. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
4. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable. NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness. |
|
(b) Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable.
NOTICE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
- Do not rotate the spiral cable when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
- Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
