Toyota 4Runner: Inspection

INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSEMBLY

(a) for Driver Side:

(1) Check the operation of the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly (slide motor).

Check that the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Forward

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Backward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly.

(2) Check the operation of the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly (front vertical motor).

Check that the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the front vertical motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Upward

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Downward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly.

(3) Check the operation of the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly (lifter motor).

Check that the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the lifter motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Upward

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Downward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seat cushion spring assembly.

(b) for Front Passenger Side:

(1) Check the operation of the front seat cushion spring (slide motor).

Check that the front seat cushion spring moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Forward

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Backward

If the result is not as specified, replace the front seat cushion spring assembly.

2. INSPECT SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSEMBLY

(a) for Driver Side:

(1) Check the operation of the separate type front seatback spring assembly (reclining motor).

Check that the separate type front seatback spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Forward

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Backward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seatback spring assembly.

(2) Check the operation of the separate type front seatback spring assembly (lumbar motor).

Check that the separate type front seatback spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the lumbar motor connector terminals.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Forward

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Backward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seatback spring assembly.

(b) for Front Passenger Side:

(1) Check the operation of the separate type front seatback spring assembly (reclining motor).

Check that the separate type front seatback spring assembly moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

Battery positive (+) → 1

Battery negative (-) → 2

Forward

Battery positive (+) → 2

Battery negative (-) → 1

Backward

If the result is not as specified, replace the separate type front seatback spring assembly.
