Toyota 4Runner: Relay

On-vehicle Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See page ).


2. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER RELAY

(a) Remove the windshield washer relay from the engine room relay box.

3. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER RELAY

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

3 - 5

Battery voltage not applied to terminals 1 and 2

10 kΩ or higher

Battery voltage applied to terminals 1 and 2

Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield washer relay.


4. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WASHER RELAY

(a) Install the windshield washer relay to the engine room relay box.

5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
