SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
1. GENERAL
(a) When the ultrasonic sensors detect any obstacles at the corners and rear of the vehicle, the system informs the driver of the distance between the sensors and the obstacles by sounding a buzzer.
2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS
Components |
Function |
---|---|
Clearance warning ECU assembly |
Receives signals from the ultrasonic sensors. Based on the received wave, the clearance warning ECU assembly calculates the approximate distance between the vehicle and obstacle, and sends a buzzer signal to the No. 1 clearance warning buzzer. |
Back sonar or clearance sonar switch assembly |
Supplies electrical power to the sensors and outputs system on/off signals to the clearance warning ECU assembly. |
Ultrasonic sensor |
The ultrasonic sensor sends and receives ultrasonic waves. |
Combination Meter Assembly (Multi-information Display) |
Transmits vehicle speed signal to clearance warning ECU assembly.
|
No. 1 clearance warning buzzer |
Sounds to inform the driver of the distance to the obstacle. |
Park/neutral position switch assembly |
Sends a signal that activates the intuitive parking assist system when the shift lever is moved to R. |
3. OPERATION EXPLANATION
(a) The clearance warning ECU assembly determines whether the intuitive parking assist system should be operated based on the clearance sonar switch on/off status and the shift position and the vehicle speed.
(b) When the system operates, the ECU transmits ultrasonic waves from the ultrasonic sensors. If these waves encounter an obstacle within the range of one or more of the sensors, the waves are reflected back to the sensors, which transmit them to the ECU. Based on this information, the ECU sends signals to the combination meter assembly and the clearance warning buzzer. The approximate distance between the vehicle and the obstacle is then indicated, and the buzzer sounds.
