Toyota 4Runner: How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

Standard voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM*

(a) Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

CHECK FOR DTC*

(a) Check for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output, try to cause the same steering lock system DTC, engine immobiliser system DTC or smart key system (for Entry Function) DTC to be stored by reproducing the symptoms indicated by the DTC.
