DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detects errors in its own communications with the ID code box; 2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted.

Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no certification ECU DTCs are output. If output, troubleshoot the certification ECU DTCs first.

DTC Code	DTC Detection Condition	Trouble Area
B2799	One of the following conditions is met: An error in the communication between the ECM and ID code box. An error in the communication lines. The communication ID is different during communication with the ID code box.	Harness or connector ECM ID code box

When the ID code box is replaced, refer to Registration (See page ).

PROCEDURE

1.	CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and ID code box.

OK:

Connectors are properly connected.

CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

2.	CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the F72 box connector.

(b) Disconnect the F50 ECM connector.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
F72-5 (EFII) - F50-20 (IMO)	Always	Below 1 Ω
F72-6 (EFIO) - F50-14 (IMI)	Always	Below 1 Ω
F72-5 (EFII) or F50-20 (IMO) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher
F72-6 (EFIO) or F50-14 (IMI) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

3.	REGISTER RECOGNITION CODES

(a) Register the recognition codes in the ECUs (See page ).

4.	REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID

(a) Register the ECU communication ID (See page ).

CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs (See page ).

6.	CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Check for DTCs (See page ).

OK:

DTC B2799 is not output.

END (ECU COMMUNICATION ID IS NOT REGISTERED CORRECTLY)

7.	REPLACE ECM

(a) Temporarily replace the ECM with a new or normally functioning one (See page ).

CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs (See page ).

9.	CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Check for DTCs (See page ).

OK:

DTC B2799 is not output.

END (ECM IS DEFECTIVE)
